Woodes – Run For It

Australian alternative pop artist Woodes unveils Run For It, her first single since her self-titled EP dropped last year. The new song is probably Woodes’ poppiest and best offering to date, thanks to a perfectly balanced mix of sultry vocals and piano-led melodies enhanced though by a cascade of bouncing beats. Sonically speaking, it reminds me a bit of what Lorde is doing with her new stuff, blending these epic soundscapes with rollercoaster rhythms.

Woodes has spoken widely about Run For It: “The goal with this was to have the percussion and bass down first. I’ve been writing that way in order to make sure the energy and the heart is in it first. “The lyrics stem from accepting things being within the nature of certain people or genders.” – she continues, – “From being called out from cars, to men expecting women to act a certain way depending on how they are dressed… A warning. Signifying things are changing.
