Woodes – Rise

The idea goes like this: image an iconic city like New York and a young girl who walks through Central Park at night with a ditty in the head. An abstract idea which re-emerges from the deep, ready to turn into something real. A song, a captivating song, shining like a lighthouse in the darkness, that embraces the simplicity and romance of her music. Although many of you already know her, let me introduce Woodes, the moniker for 24 year old producer, singer and songwriter Elle Graham who releases new self-titled EP written and co-produced with acts such as Golden Vessel, Set Mo, Elkkle and Atticus Beats.

Speaking of the EP’s standout track Rise, Woodes says… “is a story with a beginning, middle and an end. To me, I see it all quite visually about a woman that emerges from the water.” R&B tinged electro-pop, with spacey beats accompanied by warm dreamy light synth layers. Elle’s vocal is as Ariadne’s string that brings you along the mental paths, melding into the background vocals and the repeated verse. For more, check out her Soundcloud here.
