VÉRITÉ – When You’re Gone
This is what VÉRITÉ‘s fans (including ourselves) have been waiting for months: the announcement of the release of her eagerly awaited debut LP. We finally have a title, Somewhere In Between and a release date, June 23rd. Moreover, it feels like the fulfillment of a journey started three years ago. Together with the news comes the album’s opener When You’re Gone, a flawless pop number that emphasizes how good the NYC-based artist is as a singer, an aspect that in my opinion is not sufficiently highlighted when it comes to speak about her music.
On the song, VÉRITÉ says: “‘When You’re Gone’ was written on a train ride to upstate New York. The first verse of lyrics developed from mumbles as I repeated the verse melody in my head for an hour. Lyrically, I made the decision to be blunt and more transparent. The song is about being depressed, wanting to erase the feeling with external and realizing that it doesn’t work. I wanted the production to be a hard exterior shell to that vulnerability.”
