Vallis Alps – Fading
Last year, the fast rising of Sydney electronic pop duo Vallis Alps almost took us by surprise. Their breakthrough debut basically opened any kind of door to David and Parissa, but still they’ve decided to remain true to themselves and self-release also the next body of work, a new extended play that will see the light of the day in 2017. The first track to be lifted from the record is Fading, an extra smooth pop tune which sparkling yet subtle electronic production reminds me a bit of Låpsley’s music, but while the voice of the English artist is usually bold and resonant, the singing here is high-pitched and bright.
Speaking about the track, the band have said: “We wanted to make a song that was about pure joy; those moments where you feel exhilarated and ecstatic. Encapsulating that feeling ended up being harder than we thought, because as humans we are constantly bombarded with the realities of life around us. In the end, we realised that sometimes joy comes from trying to see things in a new way or from a different angle. We want ‘Fading’ to make people happy; to be an escape from the negativity that surrounds us and a reminder of the beauty that is always present – but sometimes hidden.”
