Tobias Jesso Jr. – Hollywood

Being lucky enough to have been at Pitchfork Music Festival Paris, the new offering from Tobias Jesso Jr. isn’t exactly a surprise to us. If our memory serves us well, Hollywood is a story about trying and failing, told from a very personal point of view. It refers to the first part of Tobias’ career, when he lived in Los Angeles and he was trying to be an author of pop-songs for other performers.

Produced by former Girls bassist Chet JR White, Hollywood is the usual deep, emotional, piano-driven ballad, with a slight variation towards the song’s finale, when a rickety trumpet makes its appearance. Tobias Jesso Jr.’s first album will be released next spring through True Panther Sounds. Listen below.
