Tennis – Never Work For Free

You probably already know everything about Tennis, the husband + wife duo of Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore, about their happy life as a couple and their recording sessions on a boat for first album Cape Dory (which I adored): that’s not the point. They have announced their new album, Ritual in Repeat, which will be released on September 9th via Communion Records: that’s still not the point. I felt quite sad two years ago after the release of sophomore LP Young & Old ‘cause, let’s face it, it was kinda boring. I have given up on hopes for their future as a band: it seemed to be the same old story of the one hit wonder that turns into the bad copy of itself. So, when I saw their new single Never Work For Free popping up online, I was tempted to not even giving it a chance. Thankfully, in the end, I did.

THIS SINGLE IS F*CKING AMAZING, GUYS! It has a terrific bubbly melody with fresh doo-wop chorus operating in the background and – it’s weird I know – there’s something about it  that recalls HAIM (with whom the pair toured recently). This is gonna be THE song of my Summer for sure, it could be yours too.
