Sulene – Haunting
We introduced the solo project of singer/songwriter and former lead guitar of Nate Ruess’ post-fun. band Sulene earlier this yer with her debut single What We Had. Today the South Africa native, NYC based artist has returned with a new single off her upcoming EP Strange, a song called Haunting that displays her attitude towards pop music. Retro synth hooks open the track and, together with subtle guitar effects and steady percussion, lead the melody iinto a surprising and emotional crescendo, while Sulene’s sugary vocals embody her inner broken-hearted feelings.
Speaking on the song, she said:”Haunting is about that lingering feeling that creeps up on you at night when you end a difficult relationship in your life. I wanted to write a song about all the complications that go along with letting someone go – how even when the rational decision has been made and you’re moving on, that your heart may still be playing catch-up and trying to adjust.”
