STRi – Crystal

Musically, the city of Pesaro is mostly known for shoegaze/wave outfits like Be Forest and Brothers In Law, but the scene there can also boast a balearic leg that’s mainly represented by STRi.

Following their debut release (Canyon, 2012), the duo has made its comeback with Crystal, a brand new single that makes us suspect that Alberto Canestrari and Nicola Battistelli are between those smart kids who bought the splendid Cascine’s remastered reissue of Caught The Breeze by Boat Club. Dropping more than a clubby element that marked their previous offerings to focus, instead, on warm guitar riffs, the song acts, in fact, as STRi’s counterpart for Memories, the most popular track from the Swedes’ mini-album.

It’s enough to raise our expectations for the band’s forthcoming album, which was recorded in Berlin, is entitled A T O M and will be released on March 18th through Synthemesc Records: we really hope to be soon able to confirm you that Crystal is not an exception and that STRi are, right now, the closest thing to the legendary Gothenburg scene (of Air France, Studio and the aforementioned Boat Club) that we currently have in Italy.
