Stèv – Elsewhere EP

Last year, thanks to his highly emotional debut LP, Machweo moved from his bedroom to the status of well-known producer and it seems that his impressive rise to (national) fame has pushed other similar artists to try harder and follow the path that he ushered. It was, indeed, the same Machweo to introduce us to his current rival.

Born and raised on the Adriatic riviera, Stèv shares identical fondness for travels and field recordings (made out of travels) with the aforementioned Carpi-based kiddo. They also showcase the same exact approach to music: both might be labelled as “minimalists”, but, since they apply their skills as multi-instrumentalists to their electronics, there’s really a lot going on in their songs.

Anyway, while Machweo aims for heart-melting ambient electronics, Stèv’s musical output points more strictly towards downtempo. He’s basically a minor Bonobo that we have in Italy and we couldn’t be more proud to see that he’s getting proper recognition also abroad: Elsewhere, his latest EP, was recently released by Emancipator’s label Loci Records and, as you might have noticed from the widget below, its opening track has been featured on XLR8R (a necessary step for every producer that will matter).

Woop!
