Split Screens – Stand Alone

It’s been 3 years since Bon Iver’s self-titled LP came out and we sincerely miss its sound and, in general, everything about Justin Vernon’s approach to music. Luckily we came across the new track by Jesse Cafiero – aka Split Screens: it brought us back to the same feelings we felt while listening to the abovementioned Vernon’s LP for the first time.

The song it’s called Stand Alone and is the first single off the artist’s upcoming debut LP Before the Storm, due out September 9th via Name Drop Swamp Records. Compared to the double-sided 7″ vinyl, The Sinner, the San Francisco-based musician unveils even a brighter pop side here, one that’s highlighted by a weighted mix between synths, organ and horns.

Through Stand Alone, Cafiero tells us about the challenges of falling in love: “It has a lot of meaning and I drew from my current relationship and my past one”, he said. “It addresses the vulnerability of falling in love and the personal issues I must resolve to let love into me in the first place”.
