Son Step – One Of Every / Sweet Wife Life

There’s some brand new music coming from one of the most overlooked bands around. Philly-based trio Son Step have announced a release date for their new LP Natural Majique and shared some brand new songs. We can call it alt-pop or alt-folk but we can’t help but saying that these guys’ music and the best offerings from The Dodos and Alt-J have so many things to share. Lots of layers and percussions, crooked paths and filtered vocals moving from a brighter mood (Sweet Wife Life) to a darker one (One Of Every) without losing inspiration.

This is what they stated to the guys over at The Wild Honey Pie who premiered the track: “One of Every’ was one of the first songs we concocted for this album. We had captured a tasty impromptu rhythm that our drummer Matt developed during a rehearsal, and I used that as a starting point for most of the sounds that followed. I wrote the bulk of the tune (plus some other scraps for the album) during a month of downtime in Seoul, South Korea, which was a nice backdrop for getting some fresh ideas to flow. This song is about people’s tendency to overthink, particularly about situations and relationships that are closest to us. Everybody deals with that struggle in some way or another, and the main theme here is about getting into a groove of letting go”.

Son Step’s new LP called Natural Majique is out May 27th.
