Shy Girls – Trivial Motion

Following up his last year’s mixtape 4WZ, Portland based alternative R&B artist Shy Girls has finally announced the release of his highly anticipated debut album Salt, which is due out early next year. Self-produced by Dan Vidmar himself, the record explores the world of the so-called millennials, torn between the nostalgia of a pre-Internet prosperous past and the desire to understand the current fragile situation. Two songs have already been lifted from the album, I’m Only A Man and the recently unveiled Trivial Motion, a smooth R&B tune with a pounding electro-drenched production where Vidmar’s silky vocals stand out in their heartfelt ode to nihilism.

Speaking on the song, Shy Girls said: “I had been plucking that doo-wop chord progression on my guitar for months and finally found the song for it. And I don’t know why but there’s something kind of sad about that chord progression to me. A lot of the new album is about my struggle coming to terms with absurd constructs and this song is definitely an example of that.

Shy Girls’ debut full-length album Salt will be released on January 20th, 2017, via Hit City U.S.A.

Pre-order it now on vinyl — both standard black and limited edition red — and digitally.
