Shura – What’s It Gonna Be?

Previously premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record, Shura‘s latest single What’s It Gonna Be? offers us another crazy cut off her highly-anticipated debut LP Nothing’s Real, which will be out on July 8th via Polydor. Co-produced with Greg Kurstin, the new track is a terrific mix of arena-rock vibes, R&B-tinged tempting vocals and fresh electronic. Basically it’s as if Madonna had turned into Springsteen.

Now the song has also an official video, which looks terrific. Shura explains the concept behind the clip with these words: “‘What’s It Gonna Be?’ is about having a massive crush on someone, so it made sense to go back where to school, where it all began. But it was important for us to explore those archetypal characters – The Jock, The Nerd, The Dork, The Popular Kid – and then flip expectations. ‘What’s It Gonna Be?’ is based on my personal experience as a kid; thinking you’re in love but then realising that’s maybe just because you feel you should be (and ending up with someone totally unexpected).
