You think you have certain artist’s sound defined and then they come out of leftfield and surprise you with something completely different. This happened with James Blake’s evolution from bedroom producer to legit solo artist and it’s happened again with RNDYSVGE, who first caught my eye with his Soulection-esque neon-tinged productions before debuting his vocals to great effect on the track FindU earlier in the year. With Snakes, RNDYSVGE continues to develop his sound, with a track built around a stripped back bass groove that conjures Steve Lacy, Childish Gambino and some of Bootsy Collins’ more restrained moments. An EP is rumoured for later in the year but for now listen to the track below.
