Rebecca Clements – Pure Wasted

You might remember Rebecca Clements thanks to our Going Inbox column from last November. Back then, she won us over with Love Child, an art-pop composition set through the London Grammar zone. Now she’s carrying on with a new tune and announcing the release of a three-track EP called Pure Wasted. Produced by Irish musician Iain Archer (Jake Bugg, Bat For Lashes), the title-track is a strumming guitar-driven song where Rebecca’s haunting voice shares with the listeners the struggle of a broken heart.

In her own words, Pure Wasted is “about losing someone you’re with to the strong stuff. Making a play on words of ‘Pure Wasted’, pulling together the idea of a pure substance and a pure love, both are equally as toxic. Essentially, it’s a love song. But I wanted it to feel more than that, to tell a story rather than play the victim.
