Parekh & Singh – Philosophize

Hailing from Kolkata, India, Parekh & Singh are not a trendy law-firm but a really good alt-fok duo formed by singer-songwriter Nischay Parekh and percussionist Jivraj ‘Jiver’ Singh. They’re signed to Pacefrog Records, which will release their debut album Ocean on October 28th. We already shared with you their nostalgic indie-pop single Newbury Street and the Wes Anderson-inspired video for I Love You Baby, I Love You Doll, which are now followed up by a new track called Philosophize. Built around a minimal production made of sparkling synth textures and soft drums, Parekh & Singh’s new offering is a slow burning crescendo that reminds me of emotional side of bedroom pop best productions.

Speaking on the song, the Indian duo said: “‘Philosophize’ was one of the earliest songs I ever wrote. It’s essentially about how I used to dream about life in the west and feeling a little out of place as a western musician in India. The lyric – ‘New York state of mind in Indian standard time’ really sums up my feelings at the time.
