Noga Erez – Toy
Singer/songwriter and producer Noga Erez is fast establishing herself as one of the most promising and forward-thinking artists to watch in 2017. Her new single Toy, which follows Pity and Dance While You Shoot, is simply mind-blowing. Filled with stop-and-go moments, the song is drenched in an urban soundscape drawn by pounding percussions and pugnacious synth, while Erez’s terrific voice floats over it as if the Tel Aviv-based artist were modern enchantress.
Speaking on the track, Noa Erez said: “‘Toy’ is sung from the point of view of someone who has inherited leadership, regardless of their talent or experience. The lyrics, while short, are meant to show the contrast between someone who disowns his ‘crown’ vs. someone who embraces the privilege, entitlement and influence and uses it for their own personal needs. They become self-absorbed and destructive. Showing how quickly and easily power can corrupt a person.”
Toy, which comes together with an official video directed by Hen Makhluf and edited by Erez’s musical collaborator Ori Rousso, is released off her forthcoming debut album, Off the Radar, due out for release on June 2nd via City Slang. Pre-order the album here.
