Melis – Flower

Berlin-based singer/songwriter and formerly one half of electronic pop duo IYES, Melis has unveiled her first official debut Flower, which comes one month after the release of the self-produced demo Love Song Idea. While that first offering was naked to the bones, this one is on the contrary is a slow-burning pop jam enriched by a light yet very effective production, made of delicate guitar chords and crescendo synths, that gives substance to Melis’ nuanced voice.

Speaking on the track, which is the first one to be taken from her upcoming debut EP Parallels, Melis said: “Flower is the track from the EP that really holds a special place for me. I wrote it during 2016 which seemed to be a bit of a rough patch for me. The sentiment of the song is that going through sadness and being in a dark place isn’t forever. There is hope and better things, if only one doesn’t give up. This song is the encouragement for that. I recorded the idea, like Love Song Idea, on my iPhone. I began to record parts of it in my apartment and in a small Berlin studio space with Josh Christopher.

The Parallels EP will be released on a very special limited (200) 10” Grey Vinyl, hand-numbered and personally noted. You can pre-order it here via Qrates.
