Line & Circle – Mine Is Mine

“Oh Manchester, so much to answer for”, someone, somewhere, once sang. This is, actually, the first thing I thought when I first listened to Line & Circle‘s Mine Is Mine. I was wrong: they’re not from Manchester but from the United States’ Midwest. Still, their new single is impressive.

Taking its cue from Smiths’ retro pop grandeur, Mine Is Mine is eloquent and nervy and melodramatic, combining louche decay with the sly insistence of early-80s indie-pop. There are peaks of quality here that only Northern Portrait or The Holiday Crowd achieved in recent times.

We’re sure this song can be an instant classic. Listen below.
