Kiah Victoria – Cold War

It happens frequently to meet a music project in its early days, listen to some promising yet incomplete stuff and then find out that artist has completely erased its music presence online. Reasons can be various, usually it’s because the project requires a sort of extreme makeover. More or less is also the case of Kiah Victoria: the Brooklyn-based 24-year-old is not exactly a newbie in the blogosphere, but her new single Cold War marks a new beginning for her music career. Built around sparse piano chords, this track is a wonderful, pristinely-produced piece of electronic R&B, where Victoria’s powerful and alluring vocals completely dominate the scene, leaving no room for anything else.

Speaking on the track she said: “I often find that the hardest person to confront is yourself. When something isn’t right within (emotionally, spiritually, mentally) it’s easy to front otherwise. You tell yourself stories to mask the real rub. But ultimately that Cold War isn’t so mysterious. It’s built on the choices you make and the lies you tell yourself.
