Jack Garratt – Breathe Life

There’s no longer any doubt: Jack Garratt is comfortably sit on the launch pad and even more ready to become a star. His name has been for time on the mouths of the experts, but his crystalline talent is ensuring him a growing share of audience of any kind, so much that he has already sold-out every headline show he played in both the UK and US.

Today Garratt announces his debut LP, Phase, which will be released on February 19, 2016 via Island Records. Along with the great news Jack also unveils Breathe Life, a brand new track (premiered earlier tonight by Annie Mac on BBC1) that sounds like a compendium of all the skills that had made of him a name to watch since the beginning. The song is a continuous crescendo, from a minimalist intro it switches to danceable interludes made of crispy drums and cascades of abrasive synths. There is also room for a bridge with gentle piano chords and theatrical basses that wink to James Blake. If the production is at its best, the vocal part is not far behind. Garratt nonchalantly alternates baritonal verses with stellar falsetto, proving to be a uniquely gifted musician.
