Hugh – Go

As a huge (and quite selective) fan of electro-pop music, I though I couldn’t be impressed anymore by this genre so easily . But this time I am. Hugh a four-piece synth-pop group out of London bringing us their latest track Go. Actually I have no idea what happened to them, because their style, tendentially dark (e.g. their previously-released single This Is How It Starts), has undergone an obvious mutation in rhythms, digital sounds and pop lyrics. This enigmatic single is leading up their debut album Love, Hugh out on May 25th. The song contains electro-pop effects and dreamy sounds like winding paired synths and breakbeat drums. Frontmen Joshua Idehen and Izzy Brooks raise the level of the work mingling their voices together like an open heart letter. Go speaks about when you feel underwater in the presence of someone, in a total mental and emotional dedication with another human being. If you like artists like Blue Hawaii, Niki & The Dove or CHVRCHES you should really don’t miss this.

About the song’s subject, the lead singer Izzy Brooks said: “I remember there was green light flooding in from the surface, my lungs hurt and the excitement was so heavy it almost felt like I couldn’t breathe. Though I knew I probably should have jumped out, I stayed down beneath the waves, facing this person who had this hypnotic hold over me – it was crazy.
