Guard – Xylophone

Melbourne singer and songwriter Joel Gardner, also known as Guard, is one of the latest protégé of super producer Felix Snow. His latest track Xylophone was just released through Snow’s imprint EFFESS (which he shares with his bandmate in Terror Jr. David “Campa” Singer-Vine) and it features production by Snow himself together with TRodz and Knox. The summery-tinged electro-pop soundscape is here framed by bouncing beats and “liquid” electronic drops, together with finger snaps and xylophone chops that set the song’s measured crescendo pace.

Speaking on the track to Thump, Guard said: “Xylophone is about when your fuck buddy stops hitting you up and you realize you’re lost without validation. Artificial pleasure can be used to fill the void, but I always feel more empty.
