Frenship – Carpet

Los Angeles alt-pop duo Frenship just unveiled a new track ahead of the release of their upcoming new EP, due out to release this Spring. Carpet is a breezy tune made of multilayered lush vocals over a high danceable, tribal beat. It reminds me a bit of JUNGLE, but with a way less dark approach to music. Actually, it’s probably the kind of song that they would have made if they were born on the West Coast of the United States instead of the gloomy London. On the other hand, despite Frenship’s music conveys brightness to our ears, the topic of this track is not that light. Speaking about it, one-half of the duo James Sunderland said: “Carpet was written during a stressful time in my life where I was feeling like I couldn’t get my feet under me. It’s about a conversation I had with an ex while we were lying on the carpet floor of my room and she was telling me I had to “do more” with my life. It’s a conversation that still rings in my head to this day.
