Frankie Cosmos – My I Love You

Question: can a 19 year old girl have already 40 releases behind?
Answer: Yes, if your name is Greta Kline, you studied piano for ten years and during the last four you have regularly released bedroom recordings after bedroom recordings.

Jilted classical instruments in the age where everything is rebellion, at 16, Greta has started to recording lo-fi pop pills under the name Frankie Cosmos and using Bandcamp to pour out her teenage thoughts, as if it was a sort of a personal diary. Kilne’s folkish-twee formula provides a gentle voice singing straight about love, dreams, break-ups and everything else that a teenager experience everyday. All her songs hardly exceed the two minutes length.

After a couple of years spent by playing around NYC’s tiniest venues, Greta is ready to release her first proper studio album (entitled Zentropy), which sees the girl supported by a backing band that includes boyfriend and Porches’ leader Aaron Maine. The songs we’ve heard so far, as you might expect, are considerably more arranged and neat than past works, but, as proven by last single My I Love You, they preserve the white sadness and honesty of DIY’s recordings.

Zentropy will be released on march 4th through Double Double Whammy. Listen to My I Love You below.
