Doe Paoro – Walking Backwards

I’ve just read that one of the strongest influences on Doe Paoro‘s music is Ache Lhamo: Wikipedia told me that it is a Tibetan folk opera with a combination of dances, chants and songs. Well, that’s cool and makes obvious that the Brooklyn-based songstress perfectly knows what she wants. It’s not surprising, then, that, after releasing her debut album in 2012, she recently decided to put her neo-R&B vocal skills in the hands of Justin Vernon.

Walking Backwards is the first track to be taken from the forthcoming Ink On The Walls EP. It was recorded at Justin Vernon’s Wisconsin studio together with Sean Carey and Volcano Choir engineer BJ Burton behind the boards. Bon Iver’s leader also features somewhere on record and its contribution is evident in every magnificent snare, horn and percussion of the lead single. Listen below.

The EP is out this April via Middle West.
