Cherryade – Houdini

Cherryade are probably one of the hottest act around right now. The duo fromed by Anna and Elle, who recently earned some early praises and support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Spotify and Apple Music, have dropped a new intoxicating single titled Houdini. Sonically standing somewhere between M.I.A., Kero Kero Bonito and Charli XCX, the song is a raw, tongue-in-cheek hip-hop number with a gritty electro-pop production courtesy of Lewis Gardiner (PRIDES, KLOE).

Speaking on the track, Cherryade said: “Houdini was written about our experiences with religion and going to a religious school. The priest was later convicted for being a pedophile, the music teacher was apparently fired for cheating on his wife with a male student, and all the time we were the one’s being judged and told what was right and wrong. When you’re young and naive the last thing you need is more people telling you who you should be, and once you’re caught in that web it’s not an easy thing to get out of.
