Borden – Everybody Needs Some Wonder

A couple of days ago, early in the morning, I got a short e-mail from an Italian 28-year-old guy who makes music under the moniker of Borden. I listened to the attached tracks with no particular expectations and I ended up finding an unquestionable talent who’s trying to find out his dimension.

Everybody Needs Some Wonder is a straight-up confessional piano ballad that reminds me of the post-britpop era of Coldplay, Elbow and Travis, but also shows a clear (and declared) devotion to Damien Rice and a neo-folk approach to guitars and electronics. Holding to its title, it is itself a wonder we needed.

The song is a prelude to Borden’s debut EP, Collisions, which will be out sometime this year. Listen below.
