Barbarisms – Easier All The Time

A few days ago, my friend Alessio (check out the list of incredible shows he put up in Rome for Unplugged In Monti) asked me to help him planning an Italian mini-tour for a band he felt in love with. He sent me this song and I must confess that I listened to it a thousand times a day and just can’t have enough. We’re talking about Barbarisms, the alt-folk project of Stockholm-based American Nicholas Faraone + Swedes Tom Skantze and Robin Af Ekenstam.

Easier All The Time is the first single from their self-titled debut LP and, given that we’re huge fans of Built To Spill (check out one of their best heart-breaking ballads), it leaves us breathless. It’s driven by incredibly warm guitars and shows to the world how to mix alt-pop and traditional folk – with a bunch of lo-fi attitude à la Guided By Voices – to get straight to the heart.

Please have a listen.
