A.O.S.O.O.N. – High Grade

London art-folk duo A.O.S.O.O.N. unveiled the second of a series of new tunes set to be released over the next few months. The new offering is titled High Grace and it’s a bright song driven by a crispy acoustic guitar chords and summery percussions, blessed by the pristine of lead singer Marisa Hylton.

Speaking about the track, the pair said: “High Grade is a summer jam about that high grade sorta love. It’s about being excited by love, finding new hope in love. It’s about being young in love, even if you’re old. A transformative kinda love. We felt like we were in a room with one of our idols, Bob Marley, when writing this song.

A.O.S.O.O.N. are the above-mentioned Marisa Hylton and Manny Folorunso. Their venture broke through the blogosphere three years ago – when our blog wasn’t even in our thoughts – with a debut EP titled What Is This About. That record was a little collection of acoustic gems blended with R&B sketches and with some hip-hop influences, highlighting a sound that the duo self-defined as gangsta-folk. But, despite the praises and support from BBC’s DJs and key music tastemakers like Disco Naïveté, it took two years more to A.O.S.O.O.N. to revive their career. They released a self-titled EP last year that reprised some oldies (including their masterpiece Under) alongside brand new songs and now they seem finally ready to take another step forward towards the next level.
