The first time I bumped into Mark Kozelek I was on a highway back from my 2004 summer holidays and a friend of mine played Carry Me, Ohio by Sun Kil Moon from his mp3 player. It gave me goosebumps. I thought it was just perfect for that moment, so simple and, at the same time, so meaningful and powerful.

At that time I didn’t know anything about Red House Painters. Then it came Down Colorful Hill, Katy Song and I felt forced to listen even to every b-side Kozelek ever released. I really don’t know how he can integrate such graceful poetry in common conversational narrative floors. He’s a genius.

The two LPs he released last year were amazing – please check out my 2013’s favourite song Gustavo, maybe one of the best track he ever wrote – and I thought he couldn’t go on releasing album at that pace without lacking in quality. His answer, this February, was BenjiAgain on the top. Everything else annihilated. Again.
