Choosing my personal album of the year’s always been a thoughtful decision. I rarely simply pick the record I listened the most, because I struggle to not looking only at my tastes (despite what common sense may tell) and encouraging the “is it really the best?” question pretty much until Dec 31st.

Anyway, I think I’ve arranged a very good compromise with my 2014 chart. There are a couple of my heavy rotation albums (Perfect Pussy, Fear Of Men) and a couple of ones that I played less but that always get me (Sun Kil Moon). I think I made a good job.

But the very best album of 2014 is definitely III by BADBADNOTGOOD, an unique one within his genre. Taking jazz to a wider audience is a hard work and they made it with their first album made entirely of original songs (the previous ones contained reinterpretations of songs from other artists: an escamotage). I guarantee that also the most frivolous and less-focused listener can enjoy it without getting bored. So, please, don’t sleep on it. Thank you.
