The Week In Videos (04/21 – 04/27)

Bernard + Edith – Spell On U

Our weekly video roundup starts with the new clip from the Manchester duo of Greta ‘Edith’ Caroll and Nick ‘Bernard’ Delap (who is also part of Egyptian Hip Hop). Contrarily to their previously featured one for Poppy, it’s not “dark” at all. It emphasizes, instead, the influence of Hindu mysticism in the pair’s music, as seen through the backyard and the eyes of a dog. Namasté.

Say Lou Lou – Everything We Touch

With gold bodypainting underlining their blonde sister – brown haired sister symbiosis as never before, the new video for Say Lou Lou’s Everything We Touch can’t help but make us remember of the time when Italian dance-pop duo Paola & Chiara ruled part of our 90s. Of course, the Kirtley sisters are way classier and don’t need to sell sex instead of music. But, you know, Italians are strange people, and we all loved the way Paola & Chiara became trashier and trashier over the years. We are attached to them. So, yeah, thank you Say Lou Lou.

Berndsen – Monster Forest

Very Miike Snow-y video. Seal of approval.

Diana – Strange Attraction

The George Fok-directed videoclip for Diana’s Strange Attraction, one of the many highlights on their 2013’s Perpetual Surrender LP, is set in the 1950s and sees vocalist Carmen Elle applying her best Uma Thurman impression to the various roles she plays. Highly recommended.

tUnE-yArDs – Water Fountain

We were waiting for Merrill Garbus’ comeback more than any other comeback. Here’s one of the reasons.
