The Week In Videos (02/10 – 02/16)

Juan Wauters – Water

This week, our week in videos feature has been pretty much monopolized by Captured Tracks and starts with the latest clip from Uruguaian artist Juan Wauters. Highly recommended to everyone who travelled to South America and fell in love with its people’s state of mind to the point of never be able to come back to real life.

Soft Metals – No Turning Back

Directed by Erica Schreiner, the new video from the LA-via-Portland synth-duo is the perfect vision for your post-Valentine’s, as it features a girl dressed like Little Red Riding Hood committed to tear apart a series of heartshaped objects. It also manages to be in line with Soft Metals’ otherworldly aesthetic and to be, in the end, weirdly awesome.

Blouse – Happy Days

We had the chance to met Blouse back in 2011, during their first European tour and, even then, they were determined to make music for films in the future. So, with last year’s sophomore album Imperium making clear that their dream was close at hand, we were not surprised to find their output to be the perfect fit for the surreal affair that was the Angus Borsos-directed video for A Feeling Like This. Now, the Portland band made (again) a step further, putting their worship for both Nicolas Winding Refn and David Lynch in their new, fantastic video. It’s directed by Anna Alek.

Marissa Nadler – Was It A Dream

We all grew up by listening to Smashing Pumpkins and there’s something that recalls the visuals that Billy Corgan was used to pair with his music in the latest video from spectral folk songwriter Marissa Nadler. We love it, as much as we love her new album (entitled July), which is out now on Sacred Bones Records.

Blackbird Blackbird – There Is Nowhere

Alright. We close our run trough the best videos released this week by giving you not only new visuals but also new music, as the San Francisco-based producer released this piece of work just a few hours ago, to remind us that we should stay curious and open to experience everything. Forever.
