SHELLS – Gold
Up with the spring that seems to have arrived finally in Italy, there are several interesting debuts that finally see the light of day. One of those is certainly Gold by SHELLS, a track full of soulness, with a rad, laid back production that does nothing but frame one of the most bewitching voices we heard this year.
Speaking on the track, Shells stated: “We’re all human, we all want to love and be loved. Gold is about love enabling us to overcome obstacles. It’s asking for love to put us in black and white, to simplify a difficult situation by highlighting the things that matter, and helping us to let go of the things that don’t.”
Due to her father job, Shells was born in Yokohama, Japan, where she attended primary school. Back in the UK, she got a degree in contemporary music before travelling around Ghana and South Africa, experimenting with world music and learning of Cora, the African Harp and djembe. Once returned in Brighton, she purchased a Cora and started this project, which impact you can test below.
